Strategic defense alliance between GDELS-SBS and GUTMAR

GUTMAR has strengthened its alliance with GDELS-Santa Barbara Systems to work together on bridge-launching system programs, contributing their expertise in high-precision machining, aluminum welding, and subassembly assembly. For its part, Santa Bárbara Sistemas contributes its product knowledge, systems engineering, and integration expertise.

Both companies will maintain close collaboration throughout all phases of the project, from design and industrialization to validation and logistical support, and will work in coordination with the relevant authorities. This agreement strengthens industrial synergies within the Industrial and Technological Plan for Security and Defense, and promotes cooperation between large companies and SMEs in the sector.

This cooperation comes at a crucial time for the defense industry in Catalonia, which is seeking to increase its presence in this strategic sector. The Catalan government is considering the acquisition of bridge-laying vehicles as part of the Industrial and Technological Plan for Security and Defense. As a joint proposal, GDELS-Santa Bárbara Sistemas and GUTMAR are offering the Anaconda bridge-laying vehicle, an interoperable system developed in Spain.

If this option is selected, production will be divided between the two companies: GDELS-Santa Bárbara Sistemas would manufacture the main components in Trubia, while GUTMAR would carry out the final integration and deliveries from its facilities.

The two companies emphasize that this is a “100% European” solution, with high national content and aligned with the guidelines of the Ministry of Defense and Industry, reinforcing strategic autonomy and the sustainability of the product life cycle.

As Alejandro Page, Vice President of GDELS and new CEO of GDELS-SBS, pointed out,Building bridges with GUTMAR is a key objective of our 2025-2030 Industrial Plan"

For his part, our president, Joan MartorellHe emphasized that “Collaborating with leading companies is what we need to consolidate our capabilities and strengthen the role we play in the defense industry in general.”
